Besides rain, Montana is lovely. Got into Glacier and was sequestered in tent due to heavy rain. Finally cleared up on Thursday.
Lake McDonald:






Going to the Sun road is still not completely open, though 11 miles are open solely to hikers, bikers, and construction vehicles(up to Bird Woman Overlook, only 5 miles from the summit). I can't imagine biking this road when it's busy:

Got to hike too. Makes waiting those two day in my tent totally worth it.

Delicious bread, cheese and meat at a deli run by Mennonites. And chocolate covered coffee beans. Oooooo.


Into Mountain time and the future!

It's been raining since I got into Montana. Dry for the first time in 2 days!




Thanks Schlangen clan for my care package. Red Vines have been consumed already and more will be purchased because "licorice weigh nothing". Very true. Hot dogs and baked beans tonight.

Snow starting to accumulate after leaving Colonial Creek Campground, the last place to stay before Rainy Pass (4855') and Washington Pass (5477').

I know it looks like something horribly wrong just happened in my pants, but I'm very happy. That's about 8' of snow.













Coming down the other side, snow disappearing.



Snow is all gone. This day consisted of 6 hours climbing, some of that involved walking. Headed into Winthrop after 60 some odd miles.

Bumpy start to the trip: it turns out not all bikes fit in the boxes Amtrak provides.



The solution? Tape.

We commandeered part of another box to fit my protruding handlebars.
