The start

Here's me bike loaded with way too much.

A view of the mountains to come. Near Snohomish, WA.

A view from camp in Rockport, WA.

Along SR 20 outside of Rockport, WA.

Entering the Cascades.

Diablo Dam with cascades in background.

Me and me bike near Diablo Dam.

Snow starting to accumulate after leaving Colonial Creek Campground, the last place to stay before Rainy Pass (4855') and Washington Pass (5477').

Views from the passes:

I know it looks like something horribly wrong just happened in my pants, but I'm very happy. That's about 8' of snow.

Coming down the other side, snow disappearing.

Snow is all gone. This day consisted of 6 hours climbing, some of that involved walking. Headed into Winthrop after 60 some odd miles.

Fooooooooood.

  1. 5/28/12 - Hey Dylan, it was great meeting you today! We were the crazy cheering family at Blueslide Resort at milepost 400 on State Route 20 between Ione (Colville Tiger Grade) and Cusick Washington.

To "the 12 people in his life tracking him" (his quote), Dylan looks great. He is in excellent health and spirits. We had just arrived at out seasonal camp site after cheering on our 4 man team competing in a 24 hour mountain bike race here in Spokane, WA. We were fresh off the support/cheering trail complete with cowbells! As we saw Dylan cruising by we instinctively cheered him on...and to our delight he turned around and cautiously approached our group. We greeted him, fed him, and exchanged information, marveling at his tales from his journey thus far. We will be thinking of him and checking in on his progress until the wedding in New York on August 26th or so. We will also be covering him in prayer for travel mercies.

God speed, and God Bless you Dylan! Keep it rubber side down and remember the motorcycle hand salute!

  2. Great news and great pic’s, Bo! This is really getting exciting...rain, snow, mountains, rivers, meeting new fans along the way. There is something truly special about your spirit, passion and focus on this goal.

Thanks go out to Brent and Marsha Schlangen from Spokane, WA. We really appreciate the kind words and update on Dylan. He is a bit modest, though. There are far, far more than 12 people following him. The American Cycling Association, the Northern Tier Route, it’s Twitter handle, #ACAnotier, Dylan’s Twitter handle @dylansatkinson and via Facebook through his socially-active family and the many people he meets along the route to NY.
We all appreciate the thoughts and prayers.

Have a restful night in Libby, Montana tonight.
